Virtual Graduation Sunday, May 17

RHS 2020 Virtual Graduation Link!

Virtual Graduation: Our 2020 RHS Virtual Graduation Ceremony premieres on Youtube this evening. The video premiers at 5:45 PM tonight, Sunday May 17 with a photo slideshow beginning at 5:45 PM followed by the Graduation Commencement Ceremony beginning at 6:00 PM.  Click Here to view the ceremony. If the Click Here link doesn't work, copy the URL below and paste it to your browser address box:

Virtual Graduation!:  Congratulations, Class of 2020!Your administrators, teachers, and staff wish that we could join you to celebrate your Commencement. However, given the continuing risk to public health and per the requirements of both the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Health, graduation will be conducted online. Ridgewood High School’s Class of 2020 Commencement Exercises will be held virtually on May 17 at 6 PM. We have worked to create an online experience that preserves our many important traditions and honors the achievements of the Ridgewood High School Class of 2020. Seniors, you will receive your personalized Ridgewood Class of 2020 Celebration Bundle package when you begin the Senior Parade on the evening of May 8th. This package includes everything you need to participate in the ceremony. You’ll also find guidance on how to participate at home, surrounded by your family. If you cannot participate in the parade, your package will be available in the high school office beginning on May 11. Our digital Graduation Ceremony will premiere live on YouTube on May 17 at 6 PM. The link to the ceremony will be available on the Ridgewood website and RHS Facebook page and can also be heard on WTNS. The heart of graduation is taking a moment together, as a community, to celebrate the accomplishments of this new generation. While we will conduct Commencement virtually, we know that many families value a professional photo of their senior in his/her cap and gown. Information on how this tradition will continue will be emailed to seniors and detailed in their Class of 2020 Celebration Bundle.
Again, congratulations to the Class of 2020!!!
Senior Photo Opportunity:  Following the Ridgewood tradition, Mr. Seibert will be available to take a photo of each senior, in cap and gown, holding their diploma. There is also the option of having family members included in the graduate photos. Pictures will be taken in the High School Auditorium.  In accordance with the Ohio Dept. of Health's requirements, social distancing is essential; the graduate and family must remain in their vehicles until they are signaled by a staff member to enter the building. For additional information on this photo opportunity, including the dates and times for each graduates photo click here.
Senior Parade:   Due to the guidelines handed down during this coronavirus pandemic, we cannot perform our anual 'Senior Walk'. Instead will be doing a 'Senior Parade.'  Click Here for additional information on the Senior Parade.
Seniors and Senior Parents/Guardians:  Please have your student check their Ridgewood email for a message from Mrs. Ionno. We want to recognize each of our seniors on social media to pay tribute to this amazing group of kids. Please have your student send Mrs. Ionno an email with their high school activities, plans for after graduation, and favorite memory of Ridgewood High School. We will begin recognizing a few seniors each day until the end of the school year. If you have any questions, you can email myself or Mrs. Ionno or call the high school. We will also keep you posted as we finalize plans for upcoming special events.
Students and Community:  On behalf of Ridgewood Local School Board and our staff we all feel terrible but understand the decision by Governor Dewine to close school for the rest of the year and to continue remote learning. We are especially hurting for the Class of 2020.  Senior class students and families need to know it is ok and validated to feel cheated out of the last few month of the school year.  Our staff will be working diligently to create alternative opportunities for our senior class for milestones such as Senior Awards, Graduation and Prom.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all our students, families and community during this trying time.  Remember we are a strong resilient community that will overcome these obstacles.  We have done it in the past and will continue to grow and get better as a school district and community.   If you need to talk to someone or have questions, please reach out to any staff members as well as myself at 740-545-7639.  Thank you
