Generals Excelling in more than just the Classroom! by:Matt Colvin (Athletic Director)

Our girls team this year won the District Championship in Div III at St. Clairsville for the first time in school history.  Alexis Prater led the way being named District Champion in the long jump, 100H and teamed up with Grace Gottwalt, Raquel Foster and Abbey Kellish on the District Championship 4x100 relay team.  Madisyn Colvin was also crowned District Champion in the high jump.  The girls were not done yet. A week later they were crowned Regional Runner-Up at the Regional Track meet at Massillon Perry.  Alexis Prater had another big meet being crowned Regional Champion in the 100H and long jump.  Advancing on the girls side to the state meet are Alexis Prater (100m, 100H, long jump and 4x100 relay), Abbey Kellish (long jump and 4x100 relay), Grace Gottwalt (100H, 300H, and 4x100 relay).  Our boys track team has also been very successful on their journey to the state track meet.  The boys participated in the District track meet at West Holmes where JJ Durr, Shot Put and Discuss, and the boys 4x100 relay team of Lamneck, Getchy, Hammond and Craigo, were crowned District Champions.  The boys team then took their talents to Muskingum University to participate in the Div II Regional track meet.  JJ Durr was crowned Regional Champion in the discuss along with the boys 4x100 relay team consisting of Lamneck, Getchy, Hammond and Craigo.  Advancing on the boys side to the state meet are JJ Durr (discuss and shot put), RJ Hammond (200m, 4x100 relay and 4x200 relay), Andrew Getchy (4x100 and 4x200 relays), Isaiah Lamneck (4x100 and 4x200 relays), and Blake Craigo (4x100 and 4x200 relays).  Congratulations to all of our student athletes on their successes both inside and outside of the classroom! Lastly, I would like to thank all of our coaches who have mentored our young adults throughout this year.  They are truly more than just coaches.  They instill quality character building traits with our student athletes which will last long after their playing days are over.  Chad Lahna, our head boys baseball coach, along with his assistants, Travis Simmons, Troy Dolick, Dusty Shroyer, Ryan Gress and Ryan Lowe.  Darrell Ball, our head girls track coach, along with Dan Smith.  John Slusser, our head boys coach, along with Jamie McCrea.  Jason and Maria Prater for their efforts with our Junior High boys and girls track  teams, as well as the time and effort they put in to helping our high school track programs.  Without these people, our athletes would not be able to attain the success they do!
