Preschool Family Night

The Ridgewood Preschool Program welcomed preschoolers and their families to an evening of fun and literacy. More than 70 family members participated in the event, enjoying a read-aloud of a book involving the days of the week, which students had been practicing during the school day. Once the story was read aloud to all, families used a variety of materials to work with their preschoolers on creating their own version of the story, practicing the days of the week and early reading skills along the way. Students were able to enjoy this craft one-on-one with their adult family members thanks to the babysitting services provided by Miss Heather and her cheerleader volunteers. After completing their versions of the story, students were given their own paperback copies of the story to enjoy at home. To finish the evening, each family read along as a whole group for a final, repeated reading and enjoyed a delicious meal courtesy of our principal and preschool supervisor, Mrs. Cabot, and Amici’s Pizza. Upon leaving, families were given several informational handouts and literacy games to enjoy at home. This educational and fun evening would not have been possible without our wonderful preschool families, along with our fantastic custodial and preschool staff. Thank you to all that were able to participate!
