Bring Your Own Technology

Bring Your Own Technology
iPads, Android tablets and laptops are welcome in my classroom from time to time, as long as they are being used for class work (such as Study Island) or reading AR eBooks. Devices must have a 7" screen size or larger. iPods and all cell phones  are prohibited

Students must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. Bypassing our filter, such as using the Verizon network or a VPN, will result in losing BYOT privileges.

It is not necessary for students to have their own devices. We have classroom sets of Chromebooks that can be used for all online work, including reading borrowed eBooks through The Ohio Digital Library.

Although I do not allow all devices in my room for classwork, just about any device (smartphones, iPods, iPads, tablets, PCs, Chromebooks) will support online eBook reading for AR. Because AR is mostly independent reading outside the classroom, students are welcome to any of these devices to acces their eBooks on their own time. All students are given the opportunity to set up their devices with The Ohio Digital Library and taught how to use the eBook system. Borrowed eBooks can be accessed on our classroom Chromebooks when students have time to read for AR at school.
